In English there are a number of verbs that are followed by verbs in the gerund form. Here are some of the ones more commonly used: to enjoy, to finish, to keep, to mind, to miss, and to quit.

  • Did you enjoy meeting her parents last weekend?
  • Finish doing your homework and then you can watch TV.
  • George kept using steroids all through college, even though his football coaches warned him about the side effects.
  • No problem. I don't mind helping you move next weekend.
  • The one thing I really miss doing is skiing in the winter!
  • Would you please quit biting your nails? It's really annoying!
