ALTHOUGH X HOWEVER
Dialog: "Although .avi is pretty common, .mp4's load faster and you still get good quality images."
We use the linkers "although" and "however" to connect two contrasting ideas. The difference between them is the way they are positioned in the sentence.
1) ALTHOUGH
- Although the website is pretty new, it's already a success. (Apesar do site ser bastante novo, ele já é um sucesso.)
- Although she was around a lot of people, she felt really lonely. (Apesar de ela estar cercada de muitas pessoas, ela se sentia muito solitária.)
- Although they don't work out, they are in good shape. (Apesar de eles não malharem, eles estão em boa forma.)
2) HOWEVER
- The website is pretty new. However, it's already a success. (O site é bastante novo. Contudo, ele já é um sucesso.)
- She was around a lot of people; however, she felt really lonely. (Ela estava cercada de muitas pessoas; porém, ela se sentia muito solitária.)
- They don't work out. However, they are in good shape. (Eles não malham. No entanto, eles estão em boa forma.)
