FUTURE SIMPLE X PRESENT CONTINUOUS WITH FUTURE MEANING
Dialog:"There's a cold front moving in from the northeast so expect Saturday to be cloudy with a 75% chance of rain."
When we want to express an idea in the future we can use a variety of verb forms. In today's grammar tutorial we are going to deal with the future simple with "will" and the use of the present continuous, "to be + -ing" to express future idea.
1) PRESENT CONTINUOUS WITH A FUTURE MEANING
Expresses the idea of something happening in the future but that has already been decided or arranged.
- I'm not doing anything special this evening.
- I'm meeting my parents at the station at half past ten.
- Are you coming to the party on Saturday?
2) FUTURE SIMPLE
When we make a simple prediction about a future happening or situation, we use will/won't.
- I think Kate will pass the BAR. She is a very dedicated student.
- Can you wait for me? I won't be very long.
- Do you think the weather will be good enough for a picnic?
