In English there are a number of verbs that are followed by verbs in the infinitive. Here are some of the ones more commonly used: to ask, to learn, to need, to seem, to tend, and to want.


  • If I have to ask you to clean your room again I'm going to ground you.

  • His computer doesn't seem to be working correctly.
  • The weather tends to change rapidly this time of year.
