Honestly, I don't know what would I be doing if I had not known meuInglês!
Foto
Por: Josh em 22/12/2009 às 10:30h
Great sentence, Edna. Está quase perfeita. Quando você usa a estrutura "what would I be doing", você na verdade está usando uma estrutura de PERGUNTA. Para formar uma afirmação, você vai ter que trocar a posição: "..., I don't know what I would be doing if I had not discovered / found out about meuInglês." Não usamos "conhecer" (to know) nesse sentido. Wonderful job. You sentence is a very complex one, so it is great to see the effort!

Why do you say "surprisingly", Lamia? It's our goal to help you understand the lessons. Any questions, let us know. And in this case, the perfect word for "aula" would be "lesson"!

Por: sandrorc em 19/03/2010 às 21:16h
Surprisingly, the new ideas are usually simple.
Honestly, I prefer do it later and take a rest now.

Por: Josh em 22/03/2010 às 10:31h
Great sentences, Sandrorc! The verb "to prefer" is one of those verbs that can be followed by another verb in the infinitive with "to" or in the gerund (-ing) form. So send in your sentence with the correction. But make sure that both verbs that follow "to prefer" have follow the same pattern. For example: I prefer eating a light breakfast and then exercising. OR I prefer to eat a light breakfast and then to exercise. Do you see?
Foto
Por: sandrorc em 22/03/2010 às 10:44h
Ok, Josh.
Honestly, I prefer to do it later and to take a little rest now.
Is it correct?
Thanks.

Honestly, if you won't look for a new relationship your life won´t change.

Hardly you´ll get a new job if you won´t improve your knowledge about computing.
Foto
Por: Josh em 10/05/2010 às 13:22h
Great first sentence, Edgar. You could put a 'comma' after ...relationship, your life... to make the sentence cleaner. For your second sentence, if you begin with the adverb, you must INVERT the subject and verb that follow: "Hardly will you get a new job if you don't improve your knowledge about computing." OR "You will hardly get a new job if you don't improve your knowledge about computing." The second part of this "if" sentence must be in the present simple: Ex: "You will not travel if you don't save your money."
Foto
Por: degga06 em 11/05/2010 às 11:32h
Ok Josh!
Hardly will you get a new job if you don't improve your knowledge about computing.

But I don't understand why I have to put the auxiliar verb if the sentence isn´t a question... could you help me Josh?
Foto
Por: Josh em 11/05/2010 às 12:32h
Sure. That's just the way it is when you start a sentence with the adverb. Look at the difference:
1) I will never get a new job.
2) Never will I get a new job.
3) She rarely speaks in public.
4) Rarely does she speak in public.

Por: degga06 em 11/05/2010 às 15:21h

I think that Meuinglês is a partly good learning English course. But, however, it lack of a speaking or dialog system to get a fluently conversation to the students. I mean a way to be trained in talking.
