As I said in the audio lesson, it's hard to imagine life without the Internet, isn't it? And it's always a fun subject to talk about. Now, go ahead and send us your sentence using "just", "still", or "already". And if you feel really inspired, how about three sentences, one with each of these adverbs of time? Abs.

I´ve already studied a lot, but I´m still needing more.
Foto
Por: Josh em 08/10/2009 às 10:14h
Great comment, Vanilton! Só uma dica: em inglês normalmente não usamos o verbo "to need" no gerúndio, ou seja, terminando com "-ing". A sua frase soaria melhor assim: "I've already studied a lot, but I still need more."
Foto
Por: Vanilton em 08/10/2009 às 14:12h
Thank you, Josh! I´ve knew that, but...And I hope this sentence be right.
Foto
Por: Tamara em 08/10/2009 às 20:38h
Hey, Vanilton! Good job, there. Your sentence isn't gramatically wrong. Josh is talking about usage. "I'm needing" is just a bit odd; it's not used. And a quick reminder: You knew that, sem 've, and You hope the sentence is right. Very nice use of the adverbs if time! ;) Abs.

Great sentence, moreno!
Foto
Por: Ash em 08/10/2009 às 17:13h
Now you're going to the shopping, moreno? Eu acho você queria dizer: Now I'm going to the mall! Em inglês, shopping nesse sentido existe só como adjetivo de mall, shopping mall, mas a gente normalmente fala só mall. Uma observação super importante é que você nunca vai ouvir um nativo da lingua inglesa dizer "I'm going to the shopping".

I´ve already called to the supplier.
I am still doing my homework.
Great lesson!

Por: Josh em 09/10/2009 às 10:57h
Great sentences, Alvaro! Just one thing: em português você "liga para alguém, but in English we "call someone", there is no preposition there, no "to". So why don't you send in that sentence with the correction made! Great job!

Thanks Josh.
I´ve already called supplier.

Almost, Alvaro! I'll give you some examples so you can see what it should look like: "I've already called the bank." "He's already called the information desk." They've already called the new manager." Alvaro, do you see what you need to do?

1) I've just studied this lesson.
2) We've already seen that film.
3) The baby is still sleeping.

Teachers I am going ask you if possible, send me some examples with word "approach" I didn't found this word in this lessons.

Por: monicabic em 09/10/2009 às 15:55h
Hi, Narim. Your sentences from the task are great! "Approach" can be "abordar" ou "abordagem" as in the sentences: "How are you going to approach the issue?" (Como você vai abordar a questão?) or "We use a communicative approach." (Nós usamos uma abordagem comunicativa.".

Which song is this, Rodrigo? Do you know the name?
Foto
Por: Rodrigo em 09/10/2009 às 18:01h
Hi Monica "I've just seen a face" is the name and the first phrase of the song. A little more: " I've just seen a face,
I can't forget the time or place
Where we just meet.
She's just the girl for me
And want all the world to see"
Do you like Beatles songs?
Foto
Por: monicabic em 09/10/2009 às 18:53h
I love Beatles songs and I like John Lennon a lot. I read his biography written by his first wife Cynthia and it is really good. I recommend it.

Hey guys,

As tamara said, I can't imagine how would be my life without internet, I'm always connected on the internet all day long, for example every single day I wake up 30 minutes before and surf on the internet to be up to date with the news and study a bit of English.
I've just finished this lesson. Now I have a question about "Off". What does exactly mean the word "off" in this dialog? I didn't figure out what it means.
See you
Foto
Por: Ash em 14/10/2009 às 13:31h
Yeah, I don't know how anybody's life would be these days without internet! Great use of just, Fernando! Now, your doubt about off (very good doubt I must say): off I go. Off is being used here to mean to go away; or to leave from a place. For example if there is an intruder on your property you can say: Off, or I'll call the police!. An alternative to saying off I go is, away I go.
Foto
Por: FernandoCortez em 14/10/2009 às 17:22h
Hey Ash. Got it. Let me ash you another simple question. Is it correct to say "I have a doubt ? rather than "I have a question ?". I've heard once that "I have a doubt" is incorrect, but I'm not sure about that. And as always thanks for helping me out.
Foto
Por: Ash em 15/10/2009 às 11:45h
You know, I've become so accustomed to my students saying to me, "I have a doubt" that it doesn't even seem strange to me anymore! lol! In fact, it isn't exactly incorrect, but it is much more common to hear a native of English say, "I have a question". If I remember correctly, I used to make this mistake in Portuguese. I would always say, "eu tenho uma pergunta". lol! I know, it seems strange to say this in Portuguese, doesn't it?
Foto
Por: FernandoCortez em 15/10/2009 às 13:51h
Hey ash, you're right, it's more common to hear "Eu tenho uma dúvida" in Portuguese, in fact it’s opposed to English. By the way Ash, happy teacher's day for you and all of other teachers of MeuInglês. You’re such great teachers; you guys deserve a big party today. See you

Hey guys! This is a great lesson. You always create wonderful lessons. I've just finished it, but I still have a "question". It's the same question that Ichy has asked: in the dialog, was used "a USB". Why not "an USB"?
Foto
Por: monicabic em 17/10/2009 às 18:17h
Good question, Genilton. The word USB starts with the sound of a consonant: you say "you s b", so before the sound of a consonant we use a. Another example: He has a university degree.
Foto
Por: genilton em 17/10/2009 às 21:24h
Really? Very interesting, Monica. Does this happen to other words? Or only to the words that begin with "U"?
Foto
Por: monicabic em 19/10/2009 às 14:16h
Hi Genilton, it only happens with the "u". However, with the "h" we have something similar. For example, we have a hospital(consonant sound) but an honest man(vowel sound).
Foto
Por: genilton em 19/10/2009 às 15:05h
Thanks Monica.

Hi Tamara! I'd like to make a comment about connection speed. In fact, we usually measure bandwith or connection speed in terms of kbps, wich means kylobits per second and not kylobytes per second. 256 kbps means that 256 kylobits are transferred every second and this is equal to 32 kylobytes transferred every second, because 1 Byte = 8 bits.

- I’ve just listened the lesson.
- She’s just cuted her hair.
- I’ve just cleaned my car and will start to rain.
- I’ve just finished the report.
- I’ve just made the phrases.

- I’ve already knew the use of “already”.
- She’s already was fired.
- They’ve already watched this movie.
- My mother has already made the lunch.
- He’s already drank 4 bottles of beer today.

- I’m still learning this lesson.
- The water is still hot.
- I’ve already bought the gift, but still not give him.
- Are you still paying your car?
- My cell phone is still charging the battery.

Jvieira, almost all your sentences are correct but in some of them you haven`t used the correct form of the verb. Take a look at the past participle of the folowing verbs:
cut - cut / know-known / be-been / drink-drunk/ give - given
Can you rewrite these sentences?
Foto
Por: jvieiramartins em 21/11/2009 às 19:54h
Ok Moncabic. I thought the simple past was the correct way. I made a mistake.Below are the corrections
- She’s just cut her hair
- I’ve already known the use of “already”.
- He’s already drunk 4 bottles of beer today.
- She’s already been fired
- I’ve already bought the gift, but still not given him.

Thanks

I've just woke up.
My daughter has already slept.
My husband still snoring...
Foto
Por: Josh em 12/01/2010 às 10:30h
Careful, "woke" is the past tense of the verb "to wake": "I have just woken up." In your last sentence, you need the auxiliary verb "to be" for your sentence to be correct: "My husband is still snoring." Good job!
