If you wanted the ice scream, why you won't spoken.
If they brooken the window , they would had to pay with her.

Great try, rcpb! The first and second conditionals in English can be a little confusing. I'd suggest checking out the grammar page of this lesson again to see how you form these structures.

Hi there!
I think I'm inspired to do both. So, let's take a look:
If I found a wallet in the street, I'd take it to the police station. And if I have time I'll go to the pub.
Is it that?
Cheers!

That's it, phalfeld! So it looks like you're an honest person who is sometimes too busy to have a beer. Is that right? rsrs

My life now is very quiet and relax.
If I would knew that eu não precisava de tanto estresse para fazer meu trabalho tudo teria sido diferente. it's a chane, but now is too late. Pleas, Ash,ajude-me a compor esta frase ficaria muitíssimo agradecida, OK ?

Hey Roberto! How are you? Your sentence is almost perfect! Let me make just a few adjustments: If I knew about meuInglês.com at least one year ago I would be speaking a better English.

The leason was great . If i knew this before , i would certainly learn English with you :D
Foto
Por: Ash em 26/11/2009 às 15:42h
But you are learning English with us now, aren't you, Nessa07?
Observe que o uso da second conditional é para dizer que a possibilidade agora ou no futuro é impossível.
Pode mandar outra frase usando a second conditional?
Foto
Por: Nessa07 em 26/11/2009 às 14:06h
I have one doubt. In the Gramatic topic , you used "They won't tell you how to get there if you don't ask them. "
But i learned that when i have the pronoum "they" i must used " werent" . Why this especific case you used " won't" ?
Xoxo :)
Foto
Por: Ash em 26/11/2009 às 15:30h
Nessa07, were(n't) is the past simple of the verb to be for you / we / they. Won't = will not, which is the future negative.

Do you know I used to speak Spanish almost as well as I speak Portuguese? Now my Spanish is more of a Portuñol than anything else! Great sentences, Genilton. Hopefully in the near future ezLearn will be making meuEspanhol available. Let's see!

If we do not use will it won't be first conditional? Like this:
If we know who is selling cheaper, we can sell our product with a better price.
Foto
Por: Ash em 25/01/2010 às 17:09h
Diogo, sometimes we can replace "will" with "may" or "can" when using the first conditional. Like in your sentence:
If we know who is selling the product for cheaper, we can sell ours product with for a better price.
Or,
If you do your all your homework, you may have some ice cream.

If I rested more in this Carnival, I wouldn't be sick now.
Foto
Por: Josh em 19/02/2010 às 12:24h
Great first sentence, Thiago, well done! Your second sentence is perfect in terms of the "if" structure, but we say "during Carnaval" and not in Carnaval. Awesome job!

First Conditional: If I eat this cake, I'll get fat.

Second Conditional: If I ate this cake, I'd get fat.

Then I suggest you don't eat the cake, Fernando! Good job!

Por: narim em 03/03/2010 às 22:34h
Mary if you didn't be singer what would you like to be?
I would like to be an actrice!
Foto
Por: Josh em 04/03/2010 às 10:35h
Almost, Narim! Remember, to form the second conditional with "to be", you need to use the past simple - would + verb structure. "Mary, if you were not (weren't) a singer, what would you like to be?" And "atriz" in English is "actress". However, female actresses prefer to be called "actors", like their male counterparts. They feel the feminine suffix "-ess" makes their profession sound less, well, professional!

"If I have time I will see my friends more frequently than now."
"I would by a new car, If I had a better wage."
Foto
Por: Josh em 09/03/2010 às 10:40h
Hi, Flaviab. Great sentences! Just a couple of small details: when you start the sentence with "if", then you need the "comma" before the next part of the sentence: "If I have time , I will see..." And you don't need the "comma" in the middle before "if". Your second sentence is perfectly correct grammatically, the only thing I'd like to point out is that "salary" is used more than "wage" when you are talking about the money you earn each month. Great job!

Josh, Thank you very much ! Your explanation is very clear!

Hi! It`s my first day here! I am trying but I think I will stay with you!!! It`s a great oportunite to learn English!
And I have a doubt about the last phrase of de gramar section:

If Mary didn't know the answer, why would she say that she did? (Se a Mary não soubesse a resposta, por que ela diria que a soubesse?

I am a little confuse: por que ela diria que a soubesse???

Could you explain, please?
Foto
Por: Josh em 18/03/2010 às 11:52h
Great question, Alessandra! And very perceptive on your part. We have to look at the story in this sentence. Let's imagine Mary is in the classroom giving the answer to a questions that she said she knew (but in fact everyone knew that she really did not know!) So then we ask: If she didn't know the answer (todos já sabiam que ela não sabia a resposta), why would she say that she did know the answer? Did that help you at all, Alessandra?
Foto
Por: tamizale em 18/03/2010 às 11:59h
Thank You Josh!

I think I understood! The doubt was about the translation! Now I am thinking in English and erything is better!

Thanks again! See you!

If she improves her sells, she will make money for her trip.
If Alicia ("The good wife") was a bad wife, she would get divorced of Peter.
Foto
Por: Josh em 31/03/2010 às 10:46h
Good job, Sandro. Your use of the conditional is perfect!!! The word "sells" is actually the third person singular of the verb "to sell" - he, she, it sells. I think you meant "sales" - "If she improves her sales..." And in your last sentence, you could say this two ways: "...she would get divorce from Peter." OR "...she would divorce Peter."

Ok, Thanks.

- if the governments invested....the traffic would be better.
