PRESENT CONTINUOUS WITH FUTURE MEANING
Dialog: "In fact, we're sending you the first shipment at the end of the week."

We can use the present continuous to express definite plans, arrangements or firm decisions in the future. It's usually used with an adverb of time to distinguish from its regular present meaning.  Check out some examples.

1) PRESENT CONTINUOUS

  • We're flying to Spain next month to visit my grandparents.
  • Why are you still here? Aren't you taking Janet out later tonight?
  • There is no way I'm taking you on a trip to Vegas. You'll spend every cent we have saved!
  • I'll see you at five, ok? Hey, is Jim still coming out with us after work?
  • I've already told you they're not making the trip next month. It's been postponed indefinitely.
  • She's making a speech at the conference in Atlanta in a couple of days.
